Edward Quammen Scholarship: 2017

The Edward Quammen Scholarship was founded in 2011 to honor Ed Quammen. Scholarships are available to current college students who wish to finish their education so that they may, like Ed, pursue a career in international business, finance or economics.

The Edward Quammen Scholarship is pleased to make available its annual scholarship to qualified students pursuing an education and career in international business.


To provide financial assistance to select college students majoring in international business or related area of study.

Award Components:

One (1) scholarship, in the amount of $2,500.00 is available.
The selection shall be made by the Scholarship Selection Committee.


* Applicant must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in business, banking or economics on an international level.
* Applicant must be majoring in international business or directly related field of study.
* Applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program as a junior or senior at an accredited college or university, or enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university.    Preference will be given to full-time students.
* Applicant must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

Applicant process:

Applicant must submit:

1. Completed application form.

2. Cover letter.
Cover letter describing your relevant experiences.
Be sure to include all of the following:
Information on any international education, work or travel experience you may have already had.
Briefly explain any activities, such as student organizations, community service, etc in which you have been involved during your high school and college career.
List any special recognitions/awards you have received during your high school, college or work career.
Provide any additional information that will help us make a decision regarding your scholarship application.

3. Essay outlining your educational and career objectives.
Describe in detail your interest in international business, banking and/or economics and explain how this scholarship will help you to achieve your goals.

4. Two (2) letters of recommendation.
At least one should be from a college professor or current/former employer supporting the application.

5. A complete college transcript.
An official copy is not necessary.

Deadline for application submittal is February 28, 2017.
